I’ve already written about my morning walks…but I feel the need to write a bit again. The new header picture…of the mist on the river with Potter’s Covered Bridge in the background…was photographed this morning at dawn.
I purchased a new set of nice Nikon binoculars with my birthday money (Thanks Mom!) and gave them their trial run this morning.
My flock of geese are gone. For three weeks they spent the night on a shoal below the bridge. We’ve had rain and the river has risen. I suspect they’ve found another shoal of proper depth. At dawn several mallards still splash down along this shoal.
With the new glasses I picked out a Red Bellied Woodpecker high in a bare sycamore. I’ve seen one there before. I also picked out a White Breasted Nuthatch r along some branches.
Tuesday morning I was treated to the call of a Great Horned Owl. I wish that I had had time to find it.
I’m only out there for 20 minutes, or so, every morning, but it sets a tone for the day.
Next week I’m on vacation. I’ll be paddling this section every morning!
