This summer my daughter, Hannah, attended the prestigious Kenyon Review Young Writers’ Workshop in Gambier, Ohio. (We’re quite proud of Hannah’s talents. As a senior in high school she not only edits her school newspaper, she has a regular column and writes regular features for a local newspaper.)
Like me Hannah enjoys time to be alone with herself. She took advantage of her flexible schedule at Gambier and spent much of her free time exploring and walking.
During her two week stay she sent us a photograph of one of Kenon’s famous crows perched on Old Kenyon, the school’s original dorm. (On our first visit to Kenyon I lost our group following crows along a path.)
At the time I was working on a pair of crows and decided to mount one on a spire much like the ne in the photo.
I was pleased with it and it was quickly purchased for a lady named Julie Cicada Crow. Reports are that Julie enjoys it very much. Now I need to knockout another for Hannah.
