I became a teacher because I was told that schools needed creative people in the classroom. In my first two teaching assignments this has been rubbish. These schools wanted teachers to follow a curriculum in lock step. Eleven years ago I joined the saff of the Key Learning Community in Indianapolis. Here my creative approach has been appreciated and cultivated. Pressures from the state and federal level have made creative teaching difficult again. We all suffer and we are creating generations of children that cannot think “outside the box”. What kinds of thinkers do best in a modern work forcee? Folks that think outside the box.
Some thoughts from Sir Ken Robinson. He knows what hes talking about.
