Four years ago Bill Bailey, director of entertainment at the Pioneer Village of the Indiana State Fair, and I speculated on how fun it would be to re-create a 1936 WLS National Barn Dance remote from the Indiana State Fair. This kernel of fantasy led to Bill assembling a group of writers, musicians and historians.
I don’t have the time to write about this in detail, but I want to let you know that we will be presenting a WLS Tribute for the third year beginning this evening.
Tonight, Thursday, August 11 we will holding an open rehearsal at 7:00 and would love a large, live audience. Friday, August 12 we present at 7:00 and Saturday, August 13 at 3:00 and 7:00 at the Possum Holler Opry House. Every show is free with Fair admission.
I’ll be the guy in the straw hat and overalls playing slidewhistle!
