I’m blogging from my iPhone. It’s awkward but I wanted to share on the fly.
I use used — old used wood — anywhere that my carvings show exposed and unfinished wood. Much of this wood comes from worn out crates that I find in junk shops and antique shops. I really like boxes with label remnants. These bits of colorful paper add interest to my work.
Today I found this huge and inexpensive box in a neighborhood antique store. It was in a hard to get into shop window and I really didn’t get much of a look before it was purchased.
I was thrilled to find remnants of a great National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) label on one end and much of an Ivins Steam Bakery label inside the lid.
In the future check the backs and bottoms of Little Birds for bits of these great old labels.
